As January comes to a close, it is easy to lose track of our New Year’s Resolutions. Just a few short weeks ago, all you could think about was accomplishing your goals and making a fresh start. Despite your best efforts, it seems as though there is always something that just gets in the way. Sometimes that does away with the “new year, new you” feeling. Here are our tips to help you stick to reaching your goals in 2019!

Start by evaluating your goals to make sure you set realistic ones. If it is unlikely that you can realistically achieve your goal, there’s no sense in trying. For example, if your goal is to lose 50 pounds in two months, a change in the body that is that extreme is probably not going to happen. A more realistic (and healthier) resolution would be to follow a well-planned diet and exercise regimen to achieve overall health and wellness.

When it comes to accomplishing any goals, planning is important. Do you have a big work presentation? We bet you plan for it. Are you hosting the next book club or holiday meal? You probably planned for it. The same goes for finding success with your New Year’s resolutions. When you work toward a goal without any planning, you will find it is easier to give up when you face difficulty, resistance, or obstacles. Try writing down your goals. Make them real. Then imagine what challenges you might face along the way and how you can overcome them. When you know exactly what you want to accomplish and how to accomplish it, along with the difficulties you might face, you will be more prepared to stick it out when the going gets tough. Stay honest and realistic with yourself, plan for the future, and mark off your accomplishments as you go.

It might be one of the easiest resolutions to keep, but make your spinal health a priority in 2019! When you have a healthy spine, the rest of your body systems will follow suit. When you are healthy, your body is better able to fight off illness, heal from injuries, and you can enjoy feeling great. Don’t let a poorly functioning nervous system keep you from accomplishing your goals this year. When it comes to your health, we can help!
