Fibromyalgia is the world’s most common musculoskeletal condition, and one that is often misdiagnosed. It is a chronic, or long term, disease that can be identified by widespread muscle and joint pain, general fatigue, and areas of tenderness. Unfortunately there is not clear cause of fibromyalgia, as its symptoms are subjective to the individual and cannot be measured through tests. This is, in large part, why it is so often misdiagnosed.
Fibromyalgia means "pain in connective tissue and muscles". It is musculoskeletal condition and is a syndrome rather than a disease.
